Just like any other job in a recession or economic slow down you have to contend with hours being cut back and your overall work load dropping off ultimately cutting into your take home pay. The best remedy to losing several dollars of income if to buffer yourself against an economic downturn by developing an alternate source of income and one that can be put on auto-pilot when you are out working on your primary job.
Sure, you will rarely get recognized for the work you do in your mechanic job, in fact some customers think they are being ripped-off no matter what you do, but you can get some recognition running a successful home business and showing others how to do the same.
