While checking the drivers side window on a 1997 two-door Honda Civic it wouldn't close the window properly. The owner of the car was having fits trying to get the window to seal at the top rear of the window and door frame contact point. No matter what he did there always seemed to be a gap in that particular area. He said that he had aligned the window and had it close right a few times and then it would go right back to being out of whack. When I got to the car I tied the window and it seemed as though it had excessive drag on the rear part of the glass as it was closing at about half-way up and then suddenly it would pop free and continue closing normally.

I removed the door panel completely so it would be easier to see inside of the door. What was immediately apparent was that the rear guide window track had a piece of rubber track molded inside of it and it was deteriorating and the pieces were obstructing the window causing it to pull itself out of adjustment after a few trips up and down the track.
What I did was essentially do a one-time fix for this rubber guide, I pieced it back together and epoxied it to the actual rail and them rolled the window to hold the rubber in place until the glue dried. Once the glue dried the window worked great. It just needed some re-alignment because the window motor came loose and had to be re-positioned, after that it was fine.

The rubber track liner will eventually need to be replaced so between the fix and when the replacement will be needed will leave plenty of time to locate and order a replacement rubber track. The track is definitely a dealer item so ordering it sooner will be better than later.
